My name is Claire...
Before becoming a mother my background was in banking and latterly in sales. I took
8 years out to be a full time mum, this was the most challenging job to date! Once my children were old enough, I realised that I needed to find myself again and do something for me. I volunteered for Child-line, visiting primary schools across the North West, delivering workshops on how to keep safe. Alongside this, I worked at a local children’s centre, helping parents & carers engage with their children. It was then, that I decided to draw on my natural ability in connecting & empathising with people, and took the decision to train to become a Counsellor.
I studied at South Cheshire College (through Manchester Metropolitan University) and completed my Graduate Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling. During my studies,
I found my first placement at Liverpool Prison, this was a wonderful and humbling experience. I felt if I could challenge myself by accepting and caring for clients, in this environment, that my choice to become a counsellor, was most definitely the correct one for me.
Since then, I have continued to counsel, voluntarily in the prison service, alongside working for a charity for survivors of abuse (in all forms), and maintaining my private practice. My work offers such a wonderful variety of clients and issues. I continue to journey, learn and grow alongside each client.
